The beauty of unique CNC molding technology

2025-09-12
CNC stands for "Computer Numerical Control," commonly known as "numerical control." It is an automated machine tool equipped with a program-controlled system. This control system logically processes programs specified by control codes or other symbolic instructions, decodes them, and transmits them as coded digital representations via an information carrier to the numerical control device. After processing, the numerical control device issues various control signals, controlling the machine tool's movements and automatically producing parts according to the shapes and dimensions specified in the drawings.
CNC machine tools have effectively solved the problems of complex, precise, small-batch and multi-variety parts processing. They are flexible, high-efficiency automated machine tools, represent the development direction of modern machine tool control technology, and are a typical mechatronics product.
Suitable production capacity: single piece or large batch;
Quality: High surface quality, determined by the grinding and polishing processes in CNC;
Speed: The single-piece molding speed is fast, which is determined by the size of the finished product and the number of CNC operation steps set.
Applicable materials:
It is basically suitable for all materials, such as difficult-to-process materials such as titanium alloys with high hardness, high toughness and high wear resistance, super heat-resistant alloys and carbon fibers.
Design considerations:
1. The number of CNC axes determines the shape of the finished product. For example, a lathe can only perform 2-axis cutting (2 axes: x and y directions), while a milling machine can perform 5-axis forming (5 axes: x, y, z directions plus 2 rotation axes).
2. CNC can import CAD data directly into the workbench, has strong material adaptability and low cost, so it is often used by designers to make product prototypes, which is an indispensable part of the transition from design to production.
3. Whether the product shape is simple or complex, the CNC process treats them equally as multiple serial points that can be connected for processing, providing unlimited design possibilities.
4. The cost of CNC process is generally calculated based on the unit time of finished product production.
Detailed process:

Type 1: 3-axis CNC, the tool head can move on the horizontal x, y axis and the vertical z axis. The forming process is completed by switching multiple tool heads, such as slot drills, cone drills, flute drills and ball end mills.

Type 2: 5-axis CNC, the tool head can move on the horizontal x, y, z axes and 2 rotation axes, and the forming process is completed by a single tool head with flexible cutting in multiple directions.
